Photo #15 – Forgotten Forklift
As the 89 weaves up and down between Arizona and Utah and so did the temperature with the Arizona side being around 25 degrees and the Utah side dropping to -2. At one point Kerry tried to pull a U-Turn to go back to find an abandoned vehicle we had just passed except this ended up with the Battlestar Armada getting stuck in two feet of snow on the side of the road.
After the short intermission while we unstuck the behemoth of an SUV we were back on the road and out of time. Discussions of how to light the SUV were flying around when this forklift appeared. Even though we wanted to do something even more interesting with it, the barbed wire fence, 17 degree weather, and 2.5 feet of snow we were walking through managed to keep us at a distance from the forklift.
Kerry took a flash with a Pocketwizard FlexTT5 on it to camera left to give some directional lighting on it. The shot was done handheld but since there was virtually zero light (no moon) the shutter speed didn’t have any effect while Chris dialed in the exposure he wanted by adjusting the aperture to f/5.6 to get a pretty cool look.

My favourite image of the adventure, it just works.
Great listening to you Kerry, keep up the good work.
